Spectrum Records proudly introduces its debut 45 with this collaboration between XL Middleton, one of the most emblematic producers of the L.A modern funk scene and Ghost, the L.A. based French producer, turntablist, and founder of Spectrum Records. First up is a track from XL Middleton that has been crying out for 7” single release ever since it was featured on his compilation “From the Vaults Vol.2″ in 2014 and is now available for the first time on vinyl. “Can’t Help the Way I Feel” is a superb rendition of Evelyn King’s “Love Come Down”. This version is a subtle alchemy of Kashif’s deep minimoog bass and punchy drums combined with XL Middleton’s instantly recognizable funky riffs and alluring chords. An instant dance floor Boogie classic!! Flip the record over for “No Further”, the first ever release from Ghost, collaboration with MoFunk singer Moniquea and vocal artist Joanna Rose. Lush Reverb, DX7, smooth bass and 808 are the main ingredients of this exquisite UK street soul inspired jam. Reminiscent of bands such as Loose Ends, 52nd Street or S.O.S Band, this instrumental/dub version with its undeniable european flavor will take you back to the mid 80’s romance and elegance. Two killer modern funk jams which pay homage to a decade.
